Job Description

Program & Job Overview: Implemented by the IRC, the Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange (CORE) is a technical assistance program that connects and supports refugee resettlement staff globally to deliver effective Cultural Orientation (CO) which helps refugees achieve self-sufficiency in the United States. As part of this work, CORE hosts and manages the CORE website and a learning platform. CORE is funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.

The Digital Content Manager will report to CORE’s Senior Digital Communication Officer and work in coordination with other CORE staff in support of CORE’s digital assets and platforms specific to Dari and Pashto. More specifically, this individual will assist in the creation and publication of refugee-facing digital content for CORE’s Settle In (website, app, and social media).

Major Responsibilities:

· Manage content on CORE’s Settle In Facebook page, including possible expansion to English and the growth of the Settle In website;

· Create new thorough, well-researched content about Cultural Orientation topics (Examples: Employment, Housing, Education, Role of the Resettlement Agency) in English and in collaboration with Settle In team and other Settle In partners for translation and production;

· Repackage existing content for translation and publication on Settle In website, ensuring that it is culturally appropriate and mindful of Settle In user diversity;

· Publish social media posts in English, Pashto, and Dari focused on key Cultural Orientation messages in coordination with the Senior Digital Communications Officer and Senior Digital Community Liaison;

· Support Senior Digital Communications Officer and Refugee Information Officer in implementing digital platform strategies to grow engagement with Settle In products;

- Collaborate with other CORE staff to ensure maximum visibility and integration of all new CORE resources; - Represent CORE at meetings, internal and external workshops and conferences, and other events, as needed; - Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree in multimedia journalism, communications, or a related field required; - Minimum 1-3 years progressive work experience; - Experience writing content for websites or social media platforms, especially Facebook, and cultural use of these platforms. - Excellent written and oral communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners; - Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines; - Detail orientated and self-directed; - Strong computer proficiency and well-acquainted with basic software tools, preference for WordPress and Zendesk. - Can navigate autonomously in Windows, Android, Skype, Microsoft Suite, and Google Docs. - Strong commitment to social service or humanitarian assistance programs and willingness to adhere to IRC’s code of conduct; - Demonstrated knowledge of the US Refugee Admissions Program and Cultural Orientation programs preferred; - The ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment. - Strong commitment to social service or humanitarian assistance programs and willingness to adhere to IRC’s code of conduct; - Demonstrated knowledge of the US Refugee Admissions Program and Cultural Orientation programs preferred;

Working Environment: Remote position.
