Youth peace and security in West and Central Africa is a critical and complex issue that encompasses a range of challenges and opportunities. This context is shaped by various factors, including political instability, armed conflicts, economic disparities, social inequalities, and demographic trends. Addressing youth peace and security in West and Central Africa requires a holistic approach that addresses the complex interplay of political, economic, social, and cultural factors. Empowering young people, promoting education and skills development, and engaging them in peacebuilding efforts are essential components of any strategy aimed at fostering stability and development in the region. These are the reason why we are looking for one online volunteer to support the Regional Working Group on Youth, Peace, and Security to develop key messages that will be shared with stakeholders to help create a unified voice within UN entities and government on how to the best ways to communicate on how to address the youth and peace challenges in the region.

We are looking for 1 experienced and creative Online Volunteer who will support the Regional Working Group on Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) with the development of an outreach/social media messages. In close collaboration with the UNV and UNFPA youth team, the Online Volunteer will: - Discuss and define the target audience, desired goals, and outcome. - Analyze the YPS resources to understand the context and the type of message to be develop - Develop specific messages in English and French using the 5 pillars of YPS

The Online Volunteer will be provided with material and other sources to develop the messaging as required and available. For close coordination and discussion, the Online Volunteer is expected to be available for calls via Skype/Zoom/Microsoft Teams.

Candidates should have previous experience in campaigning or strategy development and excellent communication and writing/editing skills. Good knowledge of online youth programmes and projects in the region as well as experience with designing of outreach/advocacy is required. A degree political sciences, sociology, communications, or related fields is considered an asset.
