Cameroon is presently plagued by multiple conflicts including the Boko Haram in the Northern part, the spilt off of the central African rebellion in the east and the Southern Cameroons Armed conflict in the North West and South West. The armed conflict in the North West and South West where GLOWA is more active started in 2017. The conflict has witnessed a proliferation of non-state armed groups which operate under the command of several individuals. Although there has been not clear evidence of the involvement of child soldiers, there are multiple cases of sexual slavery and sexual violence perpetrated by both state and non-state armed groups. The results of these conflict related sexual violence has been a number of pregnancies. Since October 2022, GLOWA started executing a project for the promotion and protection of the rights of children born of war in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon. This project principally seeks to ensure the respect of the children to a name and nationality through birth registration (civil documents) and also strengthen the care environment through small income generating activities. Although the focus of our present project is children born of war, it is worth noting that their moms are both victims and survivors of multiple conflict related rape and abuses including physical abuse. The project animators working as community protection officers shall be expected to work directly with victims and/or survivors to document their experiences. This as part of the talking therapy for healing and also to design interventions to proactively protect other women from experiencing sexual violence especially as the conflict is still very active. The tools and the method of analyzing them shall go together. They tools should respect the provisions of the Murad Code and other ethical requirements on working in a conflict setting such as protection of the researcher

GLOWA is seeking the help of online volunteers to support the development of data collection tools from Survivors of Conflict Related Sexual Violence. This project aims to develop ethically appropriate data collection tools including methods of analyzing and storing the data to ensure the respect the rights of the survivors and protect the perpetrators too.

Our ideal volunteer should be a self-motivating individual with experience in Developing documents for the nonprofit sector. It is essential to have an understanding of data collection in conflict situation and be available to work as a team.
