Last August 2021, for International Youth Day, UNDP in the Philippines held the World We Want, a week-long celebration with activity sessions and three youth consultations. We asked what young Filipinos want for their future and how they envision the world by 2030. We also asked how enablers can support youth-led innovations and change-making. Taking off from the previous success of youth dialogues through Youth Co:Lab, the World We Want sought to harness capacities of youth-led organizations in spearheading community events or activities for their fellow youth. The World We Want harnessed the capacities of youth-led organizations in spearheading community events or activities for their fellow youth for the following objectives: 1. Inquire about youth’s perception of the 2030 world they want 2. Encourage young Filipinos to teach fellow youth about the SDGs and cross-cutting themes such as, but not limited to, climate action, gender, and entrepreneurship 3. Identify challenges and solutions relative to youth innovation 4. Identify and celebrate good practices in youth innovation 5. Engage young Filipinos who belong to the following underrepresented sectors: out-of-school, affected by crises, LGBT+, and women, differently-abled, religious/ethnic minority. The World We Want Philippines is an activity under Youth Co:Lab. Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth, so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship.
