Create a repository of short stories for future comic book volumes

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in literature and/or social sciences is required.
  • 10 years of work experience in creation of short stories, literature, and/or social sciences.
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English is required.

Result of Service Create a repository of short stories for use in future volumes of the comic book. Reach a script for volume II of the comic book (5 short stories, 10 pages each)

Expected duration 4 months

Duties and Responsibilities The IC will work under the direct supervision of the "ESCWA Stories" team leader 1- Prepare and deliver a one-day writing workshop on "writing stories for the youth" for interested ESCWA staff. 2- Contribute 5 short story ideas in Arabic, in preparation for volume II of the comic book. 3- Coordinate regular meetings with the "ESCWA Stories" team to reach a script for volume II of the comic book (5 short stories, 10 pages each) to be approved by the Executive Secretary. 4- Ensure the content of the stories reflect consistently and positively ESCWA's work, motto, vision and mission. 5- Coordinate regular meetings with the Creative Illustrator to ensure smooth illustrated interpretation of the script that is approved by the Executive Secretary. 6- Lead the process of reviewing and editing of the short stories contributed by students participating in the "ESCWA Stories" project. 7- Create a repository of short stories for use in future volumes of the comic book. 8- Report progress of projects at major stages of their conception, creation and execution.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in literature and/or social sciences is required. Experience: 10 years of work experience in creation of short stories, literature, and/or social sciences. Language: Fluency in both Arabic and English is required.
