The current Ukrainian crisis had a significant impact on the lives of children and families in communities throughout the country. According to official statistics, around 1.2 million refugees have been registered in Poland. Around 50% of them are children under 18 years and around 75% of them are women and children. UNICEF has established an emergency response office in Poland and initiated a cooperation agreement with the national and municipality authorities and local NGOs to provide crisis support to the Ukrainian Refugees.

How can you make a difference?

The UNICEF Refugee Response Office in Poland is recruiting Photographers and Videographers to support coverage of humanitarian situations and UNICEF's response across Poland. This will be a long term agreement that may run up to 30 June 2024. PHOTOGRAPHERS - To provide professional photo coverage (with editing). VIDEOGRAPHERS - To provide professional video coverage (with editing). We are looking to contract consultants based around Poland, but especially in Warsaw, Krakow area and/or Tricity area )Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot). The consultants need to be mobile to travel across Poland and perform assignments in other locations according to UNICEF's needs.

As a champion for every child, qualifications are…

  • Diplomas/certificates relevant to the field of services (i.e. media, communication, journalism, film productions studies or certificates; or in another relevant field).
  • At least five (5) years professional experience in working in a humanitarian context or in an international environment (experience in work on topics regarding the vulnerable groups is preferred).
  • Track record of high-quality photography/videography content distributed to national and international broadcasters and online media platforms (proved by a portfolio).
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality materials according to specified technical requirements in a fast paced environment and changing conditions including short deadlines.
  • Spoken and written fluent knowledge of Polish and English are required; knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an asset.
  • Previous relevant experience working with a UN Agency, international organizations, international media, or donors is an asset.

This position is a short-term assignment and doesn’t give rise to a long-term permanent post with the organization.

Applicants are required to include in their applications a financial proposal which includes a lumpsum amount for consultancy fees, local transportation and other miscellaneous costs. Breakdown or details of the fee will be much appreciated. The full Terms of Reference is available upon request.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
