Purpose of Activity/Assignment: Under the supervision of the Learning and Development Specialist in the Supply Community Learning and Development Team, the Consultant will perform the design and development of online and distance learning courses, their integration on Agora, and other tasks related to the support of end-users and subject matter experts, as needed. (S)he will also support the creation and the delivery of live sessions as appropriate, promoting best practices in the design and delivery of online and blended learning activities. Additionally, the consultant will support the coordination of learning initiatives, prepare reports on the learning programmes, end evaluate /assess learning programmes and initiatives. Finally, the consultant will provide expert advice to internal clients regarding the production of learning initiatives, training needs assessments, and specific learning strategies.

Scope of work Within the delegated authority and under the given organizational set-up, the consultant will be responsible for the following activities:

Management of e-learning projects 1. Ensure overall project management, including communication, timeline management, quality, and scope control (content, budget, timelines, and objectives).

Coordination of e-learning content production and e-learning content finalization 2. Support and coordinate Supply Division Subject Matter Experts on the finalization of content suitable for e-learning design (e.g., examples, cases, good practices, testimonials) while maintaining and developing necessary processes, templates, standards, and guidelines/resources. 3. Advise subject matter experts on value-added course elements and multimedia object selection; plan and coordinate their production.

Rapid design of the e-learning modules 4. Design a conceptual framework for each course, specifying the course curriculum and organization of modules, and incorporate the reviews from the Subject Matter Experts. 5. Produce the first draft of each module to be shared with the experts and the L&D team. When appropriate, develop interactive elements internally using the LMS capabilities (e.g., for quizzes, discussions, or assignments) or software such as Articulate storyline, Rise, and video production tools such as Camtasia. 6. Coordinate the reviewing process between the different stakeholders, as appropriate. 7. Finalize the design of the e-learning modules, ensuring compliance with global UNICEF quality standards, quality assurance process, and accessibility guidelines (which will be provided to the consultant). 8. Manage and coordinate the translation, editing and proofreading processes.

Integration of the e-learning modules with complementing live activities (when appropriate) 9. Support the management, delivery, and/or recording of face-to-face events and webinars as a complement to the e-learning courses. 10. Facilitate face-to-face, virtual, and other learning events and conversations in support of learning, in close cooperation with subject matter experts. 11. Moderate social learning and facilitate discussions among participants or groups of colleagues or partners to maximise sharing of knowledge and experiences.

Learning paths on the Supply Community Learning Channel 12. Design and implement learning paths on the Supply Community Learning Channel on AGORA; identifying, organizing, and/or creating various activities and resources.

Monitoring and reporting 13. Prepare reports on learning programmes. 14. Evaluate and assess programmes and initiatives and suggest improvements when needed.

Expert advice on learning initiatives 15. Provide ad-hoc advice to subject matter experts and internal clients, on the design and development of learning initiatives, learning strategies, and training needs assessments.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An Bachelors degree in Instructional design, adult learning, learning technologies, or online and distance education. Degrees in social science, design/media, arts/arts administration, and management (project management, human resources, business administration, etc.) are accepted if complemented by relevant on-the-job experience. Additional professional training and certifications are considered an advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in instructional design, learning technologies, and managing the full production cycle of e-learning courses. (Proven knowledge or experience of instructional design, instructional technologies, development processes, needs analysis).
  • Experience in working with authoring tools, especially Articulate 360 (Storyline and RISE), and video-production tools.
  • Experience in working with learning management systems as a solution to deliver e-learning, preferably experience with Totara and/or Moodle.
  • Exposure to international professional contexts and/or multicultural environments within the United Nations Systems, preferably in UNICEF.
  • Prior hands-on experience in innovative technologies and methodologies to support UNICEF's learning initiatives is desirable.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
