ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under WFP China Office. The position will be based at China Office in Beijing, China. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6-8 months starting from July 2024.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Preferably majoring in Communications, English, Translation, Public Relations or other relevant field. Specialised training in Communications is desirable;
  • Chinese National, Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C);
  • Strong ability to use photo and video editing software.

JOB PURPOSE

The Communications Intern, under the guidance and supervision of Communications Officer, will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the communication work plan to promote the visibility and reputation of WFP, in line with overall communications and WFP strategies.
  • Contribute to communications through good research, analysis of assigned area of work and timely preparation and distribution of information products to target audience.
  • Translate and adapt WFP Global social media assets for use on WFP Chinese social media platforms.
  • Translate media materials (press release, statement, and story) and other given documents in a timely manner.
  • Edit multimedia content (text, video, and image).
  • Support the online and offline publicity events or campaigns, including but not limited to creating visibility assets, and providing onsite support.
  • Collect daily news on what’s happening in the Chinese landscape relevant to WFP's work.
  • Monitor traditional & social media channels, and support the production of social media reports.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
