You have:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or recent graduate
  • Demonstrated experience crafting language for media spread to large audiences
  • Willing to learn about IRC history, philosophy, global work, and local efforts; adhere to IRC volunteer and workplace policies
  • Willing to learn about cross-cultural communication and ethnic backgrounds of clients
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English; additional fluency in a refugee language preferred
  • Follows the policies and protocols of the IRC, including branding guidelines
  • Reliable, independent, and able to take on a project assignment and ask for help when needed
  • Background check is required

Job Description

Scope of Work:

This intern will support the International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City’s communications through contributions to our monthly newsletter. This intern would go to various IRC events to gather stories to share through our monthly newsletter. They would also pull together a social media campaign over the course of their internship.

Responsibilities:

• Interview volunteers, interns and sometimes clients to gather content

• Photograph events that showcase the work of the IRC

• Develop social media and newsletter content capturing the impact of the IRC

• Attend occasional program and staff meetings to gather story ideas

• Plan and develop a social media campaign

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or recent graduate

• Demonstrated experience crafting language for media spread to large audiences

• Willing to learn about IRC history, philosophy, global work, and local efforts; adhere to IRC volunteer and workplace policies

• Willing to learn about cross-cultural communication and ethnic backgrounds of clients

This position reports to the Communication Specialist. This position is unpaid.
