The UN SDG Action Campaign catalyses advocacy and engagement, bringing together diverse actors and partners. Through compelling, creative SDG outreach and communications strategies, the UN SDG Action Campaign supports and serves UN Member States and the UN system. It links organizations from civil society, local governments, think tanks, the arts and culture, the media, and the business world. It mobilizes individuals to champion the SDGs in homes, communities and beyond. With the pandemic, the Ukrainian war and climate, economic and social disruptions sweeping the globe, 2022 is a pivotal year for transformational changes. This is a once in a generation opportunity to reset and to create a better future.

This September, millions of people across the world will join together, while world leaders meet at the UN General Assembly, to make this a turning point for people and the planet. The Global Week to #ActforSDGs is a global call to people and organizations everywhere in the world to take actions for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We want to shine a spotlight on the incredible and exciting initiatives happening across the world, especially on the themes of climate action, justice and peace – the three themes of the 2022 Global Week to #Act4SDGs.

We are seeking creative and ambitious volunteers to influence and help create inspirational content on sustainability, drive action for the Sustainable Development Goals and activate their networks/ social media followers to join the Global Week to #Act4SDGs, 16-25 Sep 2022. Therefore, the volunteers will share key messages through their social media accounts to encourage engagement from their own networks (tell us about your networks in your application)

Responsibilities:

Volunteers will be contacted by email and/or video chat to discuss the tasks and the timeline for the coming weeks:

Create and post at least 2 video content to showcase sustainable actions and activate networks/ social media users to join the Global Week to #Act4SDGs, and share the videos with the UN SDG Action Campaign team.

Create 1-3 social media stories/reels encouraging people to take action and join the Global Week to #Act4SDGs.

Post natively on social media about the global week to #ACT4SDGs and encourage people to take action using the hashtags #FlipTheScript & #Act4SDGs.

Share the final social media report with the UN SDG Action Campaign team

We will be providing all online volunteers with communication materials and social media assets, available in different languages, which volunteers will use in their dissemination efforts.

All volunteers will be awarded a volunteer appreciation certificate upon successful completion of the assignment.

Be able to create authentic, creative, and appealing content and videos to reach your target audience.

Be highly competent with social media and have your own active social media profiles.

Experience as an influencer is a plus.

Fluent in English. Other languages are a strong asset

Interested in communication as well as in peace, justice and environmental affairs

Be familiar with the SDGs.
