Contract

This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

We seek a dedicated Communication Specialist to support WHO Azerbaijan in enhancing public health awareness through strategic communication. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about digital media, social engagement, and content creation. The selected UN Volunteer will contribute to social media management, multimedia content production, and audience engagement initiatives.

Under the direct supervision of the WHO Communication Manager or their designated representative, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following duties:

  • Assist in managing and updating WHO Azerbaijan’s social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) to ensure timely and engaging content.
  • Support the development, planning, and execution of social media campaigns aimed at increasing public awareness and engagement.
  • Capture high-quality photos and videos at events, ensuring alignment with WHO branding and messaging.
  • Monitor and respond to social media interactions, fostering meaningful engagement with audiences.
  • Work closely with team members to coordinate communication and outreach activities effectively.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities: - Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and actively participating in UNV activities. - Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; - Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; - Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers; - Be the focal point of WHO working with Online UN Volunteers on the purpose of mapping, data collection, researching, translation and proofreading etc. - Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

Summary of UNV Entitlements for National UN Volunteer (Specialist): Paid in local currency • Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is USD 1072.83 • Health, dental, life and dismemberment coverage by CIGNA. • One-time payment USD 400 for entry allowance to cover relocation and relevant expenses • USD 89.04 per month for exit allowance upon the satisfactory completion of service • Several learning opportunities
