• The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counter-parts, including Implementing Partners (IPs); • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities partici-pated in and capacities developed • Contribute to strengthening the COE through his / her personnel knowledge in logistics and equipment inventory management.

Under the direct supervision of Chief Contingent Owned Equipment or delegated COE Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Plans and conducts Arrival, Periodic, Operational Readiness, Spot Check and Repatriation inspections of Major Equipment and Self-Sustainment as a member of the verification team. • Inspects Major Equipment (e.g. vehicles - combat/armored, support and engineering, trailers, armaments, riot control equipment, generators, medical - ambulance, equipment and hospital, accommodation, aviation-unmanned aircraft system, comms/intel, demining/EOD, engineering, material handling equipment, storage containers, tentage, water treatment plants and police equipment) and Self-Sustainment capabilities (e.g. catering, office, communication, laundry, cleaning, miscellaneous general stores, electrical, minor engineering, tent-age/accommodation, firefighting/fire detection & alarm, welfare, internet etc.) brought into the mission against the requirements stipulated in the relevant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UN and Troops/Police contributing countries. • Drafts quarterly verification reports for submission to the team leader based on the inspections and monthly assets status reports. • Assists the COE data base manager to support the overall MOU management of Military and police units deployed mission wide. • Acts as a member of board of survey on loss/damage of COE as required. • Prepares power point presentation on COE Matters and briefs new deployed and rotations of military and police Units.
• Provides logistics advice on Contingent Owned Equipment matters to the military and police units and MINUSMA Sections.
• Sets aside dedicated time for coaching, mentoring capacity development through training and capacity building when working with or supervising national or other administrative staff. • Performs any other related work assigned by the supervisor

• Genuine commitment towards the principles of voluntary engagement, which includes solidarity, compassion, reciprocity and self-reliance; and commitment towards the UN core values.

• Logistics or Supply Chain Management and Experience in creation, management and maintenance of databases and data analysis is desirable. • Military / Police background is desirable.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point and Excel) with analytical skills to join tables in queries, to filter, group and summarize required data.

Bamako is a non-family duty station with a difficult security and working environment. Mali is a non-family duty station. Living conditions are acceptable in Bamako, but security instructions need to be strictly complied with. Adequate housing is available for rent at US$ 500-1500 per month. The national currency is the Franc CFA (January 2019 exchange rate was 1 US$ = 581FCFA). Visa credit cards are accepted in some hotels and larger shops. Mali is a country prone to malaria, so mosquito nets are highly recommended. Basic medicines are available from pharmacies, but provision needs to be made for specialized medication. Security recommendations from the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) must be followed by all UN Staff in the course of their assignments in Mali. For the sake of rewarding experience, UN volunteers in MINUSMA carry out their duties with flexibility, commitment, and a willingness to live and work in challenging conditions including heat and limited water and electricity supply.
