Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in Capacity Development and Operational Training Service (CDOTS), Department of Operational Support (DOS).

The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operational entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, field missions and regional commissions.

The Capacity Development Operational Training Service (CDOTS) provides operational training, including training on enterprise resource management system and leads as the main facilitator of business process management activities in the UN Secretariat.

The Operational Training section (OTS) is responsible for supporting clients in the design, development and delivery of operational support capacity development programmes in the areas of human resources, finance, supply chain management, healthcare management, occupational health and safety, and ICT, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) including training programs and knowledge management. The section is also responsible for the design, development and delivery of senior leadership governance and resource stewardship programs and operational support to the delegation of authority framework.

The Associate Training Officer will report to the Programme Officer in charge.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Training Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

•In close coordination with the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other stakeholders participates in the development and implementation of training programme and assigned training projects. •Develops e-learning content/instructional material in close cooperation with Training team and SMEs. •Ensures the delivery of assigned Umoja training projects; reviews relevant documents and reports; liaises with relevant parties; conducts follow-up actions. •Identifies and analyzes staff development needs through training surveys and data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares training recommendations. •Develops training materials comprised of screen captures, process descriptions, reference to related policies, interactive tutorials, training manuals, packaging of training modules and assessments for Umoja role certification by using the established standards and templates. •Ensures that developed training courses are uploaded into appropriate Learning Management System. •Assists in Umoja training workshops, collaborates with clients, including the Training of Trainers events for the successful implementation of assigned training projects. •Promotes the use of e-Learning and knowledge management platforms for developing and delivering on-line training programmes. •Initiates and performs outreach activities; prepares related communication materials; makes presentations on assigned training topics/activities. •Provides inputs into the preparation and monitoring of the training budget. •Prepares performance reports on the delivery of the training programme. •Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Resourse Planning (ERP) systems and design of training material and certification courses with emphasis on eLearning solutions. Ability to deliver training programs, including classroom and on-line methods. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of partners including governmental, inter-governmental and professional institutions. Ability to conduct training needs assessment through client surveys and other methods. Conceptual, analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research on learning methods. Knowledge and ability to use various business intelligence and data analysis tools. Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Education Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, training or capacity development, human resources, finance, information technology or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in educational design, learning management projects, capacity development and training, or related area is required Experience in designing blended training programs with e-learning component is desirable. Experience working with Adobe Captivate, Articulate Studio or Articulate Storyline is desirable.. Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
