Relevant IOM staff including senior management, technical thematic specialists and project and program managers/ coordinator/ officers will assign a specific task of translation within a given timeframe to the Online Volunteer (maximum 3 documents per week). This work could be subjected to review to ensure accuracy of information translated. Online Volunteers will be expected to inform the relevant IOM staff giving the assignment if they are unable to complete the assignment within the allotted time so that it can be reassigned if needed. Online Volunteers will need to create and maintain a log of translated documents detailing start and completion of tasks, the time it took them to translate and edit content. Furthermore, volunteers will be required to NOT share the translated content/material withanyone other than the IOM staff that gave them the assignment.

    Translations works to be requested may come from a range of sources within IOM’s EHoA region and will not be specifically related to particular IOM project and program. As such they will be contribute towards the overall pursuit of IOM’s regional strategy for the East and Horn of Africa.

  • Volunteers: 5 needed

  • 11-20 hours per week / 26 weeks

    Candidates should be familiar with policy and strategy development as well as have experience in translation of technical policy and programmatic documents. Fluency in the language(s) being translated a must as noted below.
