This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.
The limited resources of Pacific island countries make trade between nations crucial for supply and geographic development. As a PNG-based NGO, MDF is dedicated to community development and enhancing geographic economic growth.
To support its mission, MDF is researching economic development in Pacific Island countries. The goal is to gather resources and references for MDF's projects and objectives, which focus on the development of local and urban communities in PNG. This effort significantly contributes to the implementation of the SDGs in PNG, particularly goal number 8.
This virtual assignment includes gathering publicly available resources from academic and government websites, analyzing the scarcity and abundance of material resources in each country based on the industrial chain of PNG and other Pacific Island countries, and organizing this information into a visual table for our reference. As a result, the volunteers will contribute to MDF`s ongoing mission of promoting the development of the local and urban communities in Papua New Guinea.
As for this assignment, MDF is seeking the support of four aspiring Online Volunteers, specifically to support the following tasks:
Online Volunteer 1: Collecting resource information and data on Pacific island countries online, specifically around the topic of international trade and economic development. Through this research, the online volunteer will assimilate an information database and then categorize it by subject. The online volunteer will then create a reference list of all the sources from which the data was extracted. The reference list must be presented in a visual manner that allows one to resort to the appropriate sources to find the desired information efficiently.
Online Volunteer 2: Utilising the information database that was assimilated by Online Volunteer 1 to create a visualization table. By utilizing the information database, the volunteer will create a visualization table, which will be divided into qualitative and quantitative information through a visual of a table or graphic.
Online Volunteers 3 and 4: Reviewing the constructed materials made by Online Volunteer 1 and 2 and adding or revising relevant information and data.
- Proficient in the use of Google Scholar and other literature databases for collection;
- Skilled in the operation of Excel tables and figure-drawing software
- Obtain experience and competence in analyzing data in connection with utilizing the data for the development of reports and/or infographic tables.
