Job Description

Background/IRC Summary: The mission of the IRC’s Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) department is to create opportunities for refugees, asylees and other immigrant populations to survive and thrive in America. The US has evacuated thousands of Afghans to military bases around the country where they will be processed for resettlement. The IRC is providing processing support on multiple military bases across the country to facilitate the processing and resettlement of this population.

Job Overview/Summary: The Generalist role is to support the IRC’s mission of processing newly arrived Afghan evacuees, provide operational assistance at the processing site as well as contribute to MWR activities There are multiple Generalist roles requires for the project and the selected candidate will be matched to a role based on background and skills set. The role could also change from day to day depending on operational need at any specific site.

Major Responsibilities:

The Generalist may perform any or all of these duties and scope of work includes but is not limited to the following:

· Model, promote and uphold a culture of values as reflected in the IRC way: Standards of Professional Conduct –Integrity, Accountability, Service and Equality and the Respect at Work policy

· Provide ID badges to evacuees and escort them to their assigned bus

· Data Processing: Perform intake duties for Afghan clients; this includes recording of basic biodata and information, entering information into a database, assisting guests in filling out processing forms, and copying documents., Staff will also support the processing steps to varying degrees depending on the specific process in place at that base. This may also include escorting guests to services, scanning ID cards to confirm completion of steps, and collaborating with other agencies such as USCIS, medical teams and IOM to ensure a smooth process.

· General support: Support and collaborate with staff, the QC Managers, HR Officer and Supply Chain Officer to ensure programmatic and operational tasks are prioritized and completed successfully

· Track assignment and work hours assigned

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: QC Manager/Data Integrity Manager/HR Officer/SC Officer

Position directly supervises: N/A

Indirect Reporting: N/A Other Internal and/or external contacts: Position requires close collaboration with Govt agencies as necessary.

Job Requirements****:

Work Experience:

§ Minimum 1-year professional experience in any of the above sectors preferable

§ Volunteer experience working with vulnerable populations is desirable

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

§ Cultural sensitivity: ability to build trust with clients, colleagues and partners

§ Must be a team player, detail oriented and reliable

§ Ability to work successfully with others

Language Skills: Fluent in written and spoken English is a must

Working Environment:

- It is expected that post holder will perform duties within the military base and occasionally some work being done from the temporary housing/hotel - Considering the response nature, it is expected that post holder will perform duties 6 days a week including evening work (as necessary) however, working days and schedule will be notified upon hiring
