Job Description

Job Overview: The Accounts Payable Specialist will review, approve, and post invoice journals. These roles will also be responsible for creating payment journals. The Accounts Payable Specialist will report to the Finance Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

· Assist Finance Manager in ensuring office compliance with IRC’s accounting policies vis-à-vis fund accounting as noted in IRC’s finance manual and generally accepted accounting principles

· Review accounting transactions to ensure proper coding and record transactions within IRC’s accounting software

· Prepare, review, and approve journal entries/invoice journals in Integra (Microsoft Dynamics 365), including client disbursements and ASIP staff expense management reports and reimbursements

· Review and approve requests to load client Bank of America prepaid cards

· Print and distribute checks

· Void and/or reclass transactions and invoice journals

· Assist in preparing monthly financial reports

· Support external and internal audits as needed; assist in preparing materials requested by external auditors

· Prepare monthly staff Time and Effort reports for staff signature

· Assist with monthly bank reconciliation

· Prepare and submit deposit and customer payment journals

· Assist the finance team in providing finance and accounting-specific training for staff

· Support the finance team in the protection of the organization’s assets by implementing IRC’s Internal Control procedures

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in business, accounting or finance preferred. Professional experience in lieu of education will be considered.

Work Experience: Relevant professional experience in finance and accounting required; minimum of 2 years’ experience strongly preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

· Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

· Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.

· Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.

· Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by IRC’s clients is desired; including, Dari, and/or Pashto.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes.

· Working knowledge of accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics a plus.

Working Environment:

· Partial remote, partial in-office work.

· May require occasional work out of partner agencies’ offices.

· May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
