You have:

The online volunteers will provide support to the UNDP - Nature for Development team in preparing and hosting virtual workshops in the Dominican Republic and Ecuador. Tasks will be split between online volunteers and include providing support before and during the workshop sessions, including consolidating the supporting documents and liaise with the core team; supporting the virtual workshops in the Dominican Republic and Ecuador follow-up activities, including translating supporting documents from English to Spanish; liaising with the national team in the Dominican Republic and Ecuador, support to draft email and basic content to foster the implementation of the project “Mapping Nature for People and Planet” in the Dominican Republic and Ecuador; supporting the design and production of infographics and project descriptions in English and Spanish; and providing support in drafting and finalizing reports from the inception workshops upon request.

Translation and interpretation
In October 2019, the first Mapping Nature for People and Planet workshop was hosted in Costa Rica, and co-hosted by UNDP Nature for Development, UNDP CO Costa Rica, and the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica. The purpose of this workshop was to determine what ecosystems are essential for biodiversity conservation, climate, and sustainable development, and how those ecosystems should be protected, managed, and restored, to safeguard essential ecosystem services. It was also an occasion to create a bridge between decision-makers and the science team to launch the project. A similar workshop was replicated in Peru and Colombia January/February 2020 and will be replicated during the month of March in the Dominican Republic and likely in May in Ecuador, involving the most relevant national stakeholders.
Volunteers: 10 needed
1-5 hours per week / 12 weeks
Candidates must be fluent in Spanish and English. Experience in translating documents from/to English/Spanish and English/Spanish interpretation is highly desirable. Candidates must be available on the dates mentioned. He/she must be responsive via email and willing to work with a team of other UNVs. Experience in event management and note-taking is desirable. Knowledge in spatial data and ecosystem services is an asset.
