You have:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in information technology, science or sustainable development or related fields.
  • 1 year of experience in relevant functions, including developing and managing websites.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills at the international level.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English.
  • Keen knowledge of UN system and its work in the area of sustainable development.

Result of Service The objective of the individual contractor is to support UNDESA/DSDG efforts to manage the Sustainable Water and Energy Solutions initiative in the context of its overall efforts to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The incumbent will assist with overall digital outreach and communication related to the initiative work.

Expected duration The duration of the contract is for 6 working months.

Duties and Responsibilities The “Sustainable Water and Energy Solutions” (hereinafter referred to as “the Project”) is a partnership between UNDESA and Itaipu Binacional (Brazil/Paraguay) that seeks to accelerate existing efforts in support of an integrated implementation of SDG6 on Water and SDG7 on Energy, as well as their interlinkages with other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) holistically, in order to accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The 5th and final year of the implementation of the Project will be concluded in November 2022. During this time frame, activities will focus around three main elements in relation to the water-energy nexus and interlinkages with other SDGs: (1) capacity building; (2) knowledge management and best practice sharing; and (3) global advocacy and outreach. As established in the project document, UNDESA and Itaipu launched at COP24 a global sustainability network on SDG 6 and SDG 7 interlinkages, aiming at bringing together all stakeholders to promote integrated approaches to SDG 6 and SDG 7 in support of the 2030 Agenda.

The objective of the individual contractor is to support UNDESA/DSDG efforts to manage the Sustainable Water and Energy Solutions initiative in the context of its overall efforts to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The incumbent will assist with overall digital outreach and communication related to the initiative work.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Bachelor degree or equivalent experience and advanced expertise in information technology, science or sustainable development or related fields. Experience: - 1 year of experience in relevant functions, including developing and managing websites. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills at international level, able to engage in complex discussions and presentations with staff of the UN and partner international organizations. Keen knowledge of the UN system and its work at in the area of sustainable development and the intergovernmental processes related to the 2030 Agenda is desirable. Language: Excellent oral and written command of English is essential

Additional Information The individual contractor will be paid a fee based on Level A, as per SI/AT/2013/4, for an estimated total of 6 working months:

- Payment #1: upon submission of monthly progress report and satisfactory completion of the assignment for the first month - Payment #2: upon submission of monthly progress report and satisfactory completion of the assignment for the second month - Payment #3: upon submission of monthly progress report and satisfactory completion of the assignment for the third month - Payment #4: upon submission of monthly progress report and satisfactory completion of the assignment for the fourth month - Payment #5: upon submission of monthly progress report and satisfactory completion of the assignment for the fifth month - Payment #6: upon submission of monthly progress report and satisfactory completion of the assignment for the sixth month
