Purpose of the Job

The Purpose of WASH Technical Assistant position is to conduct technical survey and Assessment of WASH intervention, prepare bill of quantities and drawing designs for all WASH infrastructures, deliver hygiene promotion sessions and Assist WASH Officer on supervision of water and sanitation construction activities. S/He will work closely with WASH Officer and WASH Coordinator in programme chores accomplishment and implementation.

Generic responsibilities

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Assist a range of support with the implementation of the WASH portfolio according to plan of action
  • Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement in area of expertise

Specific responsibilities

  • Conduct Technical survey of WASH intervention.
  • Select WASH intervention in consideration with MRRD and sphere standards.
  • Establish WASH committee in relevant committee and train them for WASH sustainability purpose.
  • Organize Community Training Sessions on Operation and maintenance
  • Prepare Bill of Quantities for WASH infrastructures (Solar power water supply scheme, latrine upgrade/construction, hand-washing facilities, solid waste management container and...Etc.)
  • Prepare drawing designs for all WASH infrastructures (Solar power water supply scheme, latrine upgrade/construction, hand-washing facilities, solid waste management container and...Etc.)
  • Daily follow of WASH infrastructures construction work progress in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Report to the WASH Officer on daily and weekly basis regarding WASH infrastructures construction work.
  • Follow up with contractors on daily basis about the WASH infrastructures construction work.
  • Preparing payment documents of contractor, once the work is done by contractor.
  • Handover of the WASH interventions to the relevant departments CDCs (Community Development Council).
  • Assess WASH intervention particularly hygiene condition.
  • Work under the direct supervision of WASH officer to conduct hygiene promotion trainings, awareness sessions and community mobilizations.
  • Actively Participate in conduction of KAP1 (Knowledge, Attitude and Practice 1) and KAP2 (Knowledge, Attitude and Practice 2) surveys.
  • Organize and deliver the hygiene promotion sessions for target populations (Community and School)
  • Develop hygiene training materials, preparing methodology and agenda for the implementation of hygiene awareness sessions
  • Contribute to implementation of Cleaning campaigns (including community mobilization, community sessions, house-to-house visits,) from planning, to implementation and monitoring
  • Monitor proper hygiene practice among beneficiaries and maintain its optimum motivation.
  • Distribute the hygiene kits to the targeted beneficiaries, preparing and filing distribution documents within relevant files and folders.
  • Carry out children hygiene promotion activities in schools.
  • Assist the WASH officer on supervision of water and sanitation construction activities
  • Produce reports regularly as per the project requirement
  • Any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor

Qualification

  • 2 years’ experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Experience working with NGOs in a similar/Training background WASH fields.

Education

  • Bachelor degree in (water supply or civil engineering)

  • English (Basic knowledge of English)
