The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.

The United Nations Global Support Centre (UNGSC) is seeking to hire two (2) individual contractors for the support in warehouse related activities, such as put-away, preservation, packaging and crating, loading and unloading of ISO sea containers and physical maintenance of UN owned-equipment (UNOE) bin locations.

These positions are located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy within the Central Warehouse Unit (CWU) of the Supply Chain Service.

The warehouse assistants will work under the supervision of the supervisor, Warehouse Operations Cell. Within limits of delegated authority, the individual contractors will be responsible for the following duties: - Supports Warehouse daily operations (put-away, picking and bin-to-bin). - Operates small capacity mechanical handling equipment (manual, diesel and electrically powered equipment, up-to 3 ton). - Supports goods preparation for transfer to peacekeeping missions and UN agencies worldwide, including crating and packing to ensure protection of goods during transportation. - Supports physical stock count, checks and stock reconciliation of inventory (Global Support Centre (GSC), United Nations Reserve (UNRES) and Strategic Deployment Stocks (SDS)) in order to maintain an updated and accurate record of all equipment in stores. - Supports physical maintenance and reconciliation of bin locations (indoor and outdoor). - Performs any other duty assigned by the Supervisor, Warehouse Operation Cell and the Chief, Central Warehouse Unit (CWU).

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: - High School diploma or equivalent is required. - A valid driver’s license type B is required. - Forklift operator certificate (up to 3 Tons) is required. Experience: - A minimum of 2 years of work experience in Supply Chain Management, warehouse operations or related area is required. - Experience operating forklifts up to 3 tones is desirable. - Experience with stock taking, periodical inventory check, receiving and inspection of incoming assets is desirable. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
