Overview

Assist in managing and supporting volunteer initiatives and activities.

You have:

• Demonstrated interest and/or experience in volunteer management or virtual team coordination (ideally one year).
• One year of previous work experience in supporting or coordinating volunteers.
• Experience in organizing virtual events, training sessions, or online capacity-building programs will be a strong advantage.
• Prior experience as a volunteer or working in a multicultural environment is highly regarded.

Contract

Bangladesh's ambitious journey towards realizing the Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041, culminating in achieving High-Income Country (HIC) status, will be significantly accelerated through youth empowerment nationwide.

UNDP Futurenation project's initiative is dedicated to creating economic opportunities for all through a range of initiatives aimed at upskilling youth, promoting employment, and nurturing entrepreneurship. At its core, Futurenation seeks to equip individuals with vital skill sets, opening doors to meaningful employment and empowering them to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. As part of the Futurenation movement, which aims to redefine Bangladesh's economic trajectory, particular emphasis is placed on empowering youth, particularly women, by providing employment opportunities and cultivating an entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through these efforts, Futurenation remains committed in its commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind on the path to economic prosperity.

The mission is to enable relevant government institutions and connect with industry actors to accelerate economic opportunities through upskilling & enablement for the country's millions of women and youth. Futurenation aims to cultivate a conducive investment climate and foster a robust entrepreneurship ecosystem, transforming the country's population dividend into the key driving force of the economy. The core objective of Futurenation is to equip individuals with the essential skillsets, providing them with access to meaningful employment opportunities and empowering them to embark on entrepreneurial endeavors.

Under the direct supervision of National Project Manager, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Preparing detailed Descriptions of Assignments (DoAs) for online volunteers, clearly defining their roles, responsibilities, and expected outcomes.

• Arranging sessions with donor agencies and academic institutions to facilitate and support the work of online volunteers, ensuring alignment with Futurenation's goals.

• Monitoring the recruitment and onboarding process for online volunteers

• Tracking the performance and activities of online volunteers to ensure they are meeting objectives and providing valuable mentorship.

• Facilitating effective communication and collaboration between online volunteers, learners, and the Futurenation team.

• Addressing any challenges or issues faced by online volunteers and providing necessary support to ensure they are able to contribute effectively.

• Developing and managing volunteer recognition programs to acknowledge and reward the efforts of online volunteers.

• Regularly updating reports on the progress and impact of online volunteers, providing insights to the National Project Manager.

Dhaka is located in central Bangladesh along the Buriganga River. Not only is it the capital city, but it is also the largest in the country. It is the centre of political, cultural, and economic life in Bangladesh. The official language is Bengali, while English is the working language of UN Agencies. In recent decades, Dhaka has seen the modernization of services, communications, and public works. The city is attracting large foreign investments and greater volumes of commerce and trade. It is also experiencing an increasing influx of people from across the nation; this has reportedly made Dhaka one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. Good English-speaking medical, dental services, and educational centres are available for internationals. Dhaka is connected to other cities by rail, road, and by air and internationals can move easily from one city to another. Dhaka has venerable green spaces, including many gardens and parks, historical places, and nice restaurants.

The weather is tropical - hot and very humid during the summer monsoon season (April-September) and drier and cooler in the winter (October-March). Historically, Bangladesh has been a safe country for internationals so far. While Dhaka is not categorized as a hardship station, the volunteer should be prepared for limitations in freedom of movement on foot, by public transport, and to certain locations.
