The SDG AI Lab is a joint initiative of UNDP BPPS (Bureau for Policy and Programme Support) team, and it is hosted under UNDP ICPSD. The SDG AI Lab provides research, development, and advisory support through cutting-edge digital solutions in harnessing the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for sustainable development. The Lab aims to strengthen the UNDP’s internal and its partners’ capacities for the increasing demand for digital transformation. UNDP ICPSD SDG AI Lab and the United Nations Volunteers programme (UNV) are partnering for Tech Volunteers for Resilience Programme. The primary aim of this initiative is to build and manage a dynamic community of tech volunteers, to foster readiness and enhance resilience for emergencies in a disaster situation. The capacity will help contributing to other humanitarian issues including environmental advocacy, climate change, sustainable food systems, social protection of adolescence and youth, movement of populations/displacement, gender equality, and digital transformation. The Volunteer Community Building Analyst will establish and manage Tech Volunteers for Resilience Community.

Under the direct supervision of UNDP ICPSD Technical Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

•Onboarde the volunteers, guide and engage with them throughout the whole process. •Contribute to improving volunteer learning programmes and Learning Collaboratives •Get involved in all steps (planning, implementation, reporting, organization, co-moderation, follow-up) of online and onsite community events. •Manage SDG AI Lab and Volunteer Community Discord spaces. •Facilitate the flow of information between volunteers and technical team. •Reach out to the relevant communities, student clubs and maintain a productive rela-tionship with the global and local frontier tech and AI community. •Contribute to the developer community branding and communications materials prepa-rations. •Assist the preparation of community management documents such as strategies, plans, briefs, reports, communication materials and other documents. •Participate in meetings, provide administrative support and draft meeting reports. •Provide any other relevant support to the supervisor related to project aims, through performing other duties.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

•Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); •Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; •Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; •Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; •Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; •Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
