Overview

Provide case management and support for refugees and SIV newcomers.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant professional experience in the human services field strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of benefits and state-funded resources for refugees in selected states is preferred.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Fluent in written and spoken Dari and Pashto.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Using the model developed during VAPA and further advanced for the current iteration of the VR&P program, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) aims to meet the ambitious goal of receiving and resettling up to 10,000 individuals in FY24 from the Western Hemisphere and Operation Enduring Welcome platforms. This project will include coordinating steps overseas, partnering with a variety of stakeholders across the United States, and effectively establishing relationships in a virtual setting.

The remote and pioneering nature of this project requires an experienced and skilled caseworker who thrives in problem-solving situations, is committed to serving refugee and SIV newcomers resettling in the United States and responding to their needs in a trauma-informed and client-centered way.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate timely pre- and post-arrival services for all assigned cases.

• Conduct intake services with clients to assess needs including completing a Client Needs Assessment with each adult on a case.

• Provide individualized support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.

• Assess and monitor client progress to support their attainment of established goals, address challenges, and to ensure that available resources are utilized.

• Detail each client interaction in accordance with program requirements. Input client information in database(s) and assist with tracking and reporting as needed.

• Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations. Build and maintain relationships with area service providers for the benefit of clients.

• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study preferred.

Work Experience:

• Relevant professional experience in human services field required; minimum of 2 years’ experience strongly preferred.

• Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

• Knowledge of benefits and state-funded resources for refugees and referral pathways in one of the following states is preferred: California, Washington, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Wisconsin, Montana, or Texas.

• Strong initiative, ability to work on their own and fully remotely while managing a caseload of virtual clients and ensuring they have adequate support and access to resources and services as needed.

• Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

• Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.

• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

• Fluent in written and spoken Dari and Pashto.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes.

Working Environment:

• Fully remote.

• May require occasional weekend and/or evening work for any client-related emergencies.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirement.
