Background:

The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation and development support to vulnerable people and communities over 30 countries. We began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery, and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.

Position overview

PlayMatters is a LEGO Foundation-funded project, which works to improve the holistic learning outcomes of 800,000 children in the refugee and host community across Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania between the ages of 3 and 12+. It is implemented by a consortium comprising the International Rescue Committee (the lead organization), War Child Holland, Plan International, the Behavioural Insights Team, and Innovations for Poverty Action. PlayMatters is promoting Learning through Play (LtP) in the various social networks children live and learn. In Ethiopia, PlayMatters is implemented in Tigray, Afar, Somali, and Benshangul refugee camps and host communities.

PlayMatters is currently seeking one individual videographer consultant who specializes in producing high-quality video content for education purposes. The consultants are needed to produce Four full lesson instructional videos showing the practices and strategies of learning through play (Ltp).

Major Responsibilities:

- The videography consultant will work with IRC’s multimedia manager and Program technical team. The filming will be in refugee camp schools in Shire (Tigray) and Somali (Malkedida or Jigjiga) with LtP trained teachers who have mastered the Ltp practices. The assignment requires traveling to the project’s operation areas. All travel costs of the consultant will be covered by IRC. The videos will capture the teachers’ classroom practice implementing Ltp to show how LtP is integrated into a lesson. Since the video shooting will take place during schools closure, the schools will be readied with real pupils for the shooting prior to the shooting sessions and the Ltp trained teachers will be coached on the shooting accordingly. The following are the major responsibilities of the consultant: - · Preparation for Video shooting (on-site). Collaborate with IRC-PlayMatters team on storyboarding and teachers coaching. - · Video shooting (on-site) considering quality standards set out by PlayMatters. - · Video editing which includes, footage digitalization, graphic design, visual effect, music composition, and subtitles - · Submission of draft videos for review - · Collect review feedback from IRC team. - · Work on feedbacks collected. - · Final produced video submission

Qualifications

- · Minimum five years’ experience carrying out similar projects in Ethiopia with expertise and experience in producing educational videos. - · Outstanding videography and editing skills - · Experience in digitizing for multimedia services - · References from previous clients to ensure the track record of delivering high-quality work. - · Professional work ethic, integrity, and initiative

Preferred experience & skills:

- · Training certificate on videography is preferred. - · Experience of delivering similar project to Humanitarian Organizations or Non-Governmental organizations.

Language Skills:

- · Proficiency in Amharic and English is mandatory and knowledge of local languages such as Tigrigna or Somali is highly preferable.
