The online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with the RCO team and learn about ways in which the information can support the coordination of Lebanese diaspora organizations and create partnership opportunities.

The UNV will get all the necessary definitions and tools from the team to better understand the assignment during the meeting.

However, as a start and for better understanding, this definition can help the UNV understand the term better:

"Diaspora organizations, according to IOM, are formal or informal groups that emerge as social clubs, religious bodies, or mutual support networks. These associations vary in size and structure, ranging from small informal groups to professionalized NGOs. They serve diverse purposes and goals, engaging in various issue areas. They contribute to policy objectives aligned with national needs, such as financial, human, and social capital contributions. Examples include fostering long-term investment partnerships and enhancing institutional and industrial capacity, lobbying for important reforms. Their activities encompass social service provision, humanitarian aid, advocacy, political lobbying, civil society involvement, as well as cultural events and integration-related activities in the settlement country. While they contribute to development, relief, and reconstruction efforts, their activities often extend to both the country of origin and settlement."

  • Provide more information on the previously identified diaspora associations (example sectors covered, type of service, to what mandate...)

  • Candidates should have previous experience in data mapping and be skilled in the use of standard definitions of sectors, services, assistance typologies (humanitarian, stabilization, and development (nexus)).

  • Ability to review and validate entries
  • Research skills, conducting research to gather additional information on diaspora associations such as sectors covered, type of services provided, mandates, country of origine, ...
  • Attention to details and transparency during the assignment.
  • Familiarity with diaspora is an additional asset.
