UNICEF is responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. UNICEF Health program is designed to support national health priorities with focus on programs that will positively impact on the lives of the most disadvantaged children, such as the prevention and treatment of diseases through establishing community-level efforts and services to promote the health and well-being of children. In line with this strategy, UNICEF supports immunization and health prevention programs for childhood diseases and funding for sustainable health services. UNICEF programs have been guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), which affirms the right of all children to “the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and to facilities for the treatment of illness and rehabilitation of health.”

Under the direct supervision of the Health Supervisor who has responsibility of supporting the development, design and preparation of the health programme, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Support the interpretation of UNICEF policies, strategies and best practices to strengthen performance-based monitoring. • Manage the supervision of vaccine security and logistics consultants in ensuring oper-ational efficiency in vaccine security and logistics. • Coordinates vaccine security and logistics consultants in the delivery of results-based program targets, strategic workplans and accountability framework. • Participates in the management, implementation, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on programme progress for immunization, maternal, new-born and child health pro-grams within the context of the country programme. • Facilitate innovative approaches and good practices in program implementation and capacity building of vaccine security and logistics consultants, partners and stakehold-ers, • Coordinates programme reviews with partners to evaluate progress and to facilitate the implementation of evidence-based action/interventions to achieve results. • Facilitates the preparation of program reports to identify program challenges, best practices, lessons learnt and use knowledge gained to strengthen the quality of pro-gram interventions. • Participates in field visits and provide hands on support in program intervention, moni-tor the use of program resources and strengthen experiential learning. • Coordinate field office emergency preparedness initiatives for states and strengthen contingency planning for response to emergencies in designated states.

Nigeria lies between latitudes 4 and 14 N, and longitudes 2 and 15 E. Enugu from the word "Enugu" (from Enu Ugwu) means "the top of the hill" is a serene beautiful state with a cool tropical climate. It has affordable housing and top-quality schools for primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. It has an interesting night life and beautiful picturesque views for outdoors enthusiasts.
