You have:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent) or have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
- Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
- Proficiency in oral and written English and French is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of another UN language is also desirable.
- Result-oriented research skills are required.

Duties and Responsibilities
Org. Setting and Reporting The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. UN-Habitat is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system. UN-Habitat works with partners to build inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and communities. UN-Habitat promotes urbanization as a positive transformative force for people and communities, reducing inequality, discrimination and poverty. Tunisia has been a member of the United Nations (UN} since November 13, 1956. UN-Habitat has existed since 1975 in the world. Its headquarters is in Nairobi- Kenya; the Arab regional office to which Tunisia belongs is in Cairo, Egypt (Regional office for Arab states ROAS}. The UN-Habitat office in Tunisia was established as a project office in 2017 and then created as a country office in 2019 (Organic Law No. 2019-54 of July 9, 2019, approving the agreement and exchange of letters between the United Nations, represented by the United Nations Human Settlements Program, and the Government of the Republic of Tunisia concerning the establishment of a country office for the Republic of Tunisia}. The office was intended by Tunisia as a sub-regional office, also representing Algeria and Libya. The United Nations system in Tunisia currently consists of 27 specialized agencies, funds and programs that carry out their activities in accordance with their respective mandates. UN-Habitat works closely with the office of the Resident Coordinator in Tunisia within the framework of the cooperation framework document for sustainable development (UNSDCF}, signed in December 2020 with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The intern reports directly to the head of office and to the program assistant. Responsibilities • Support with research related to the ongoing or upcoming projects under the climate urban portfolio. • Assisting in writing urban climate resilience project ideas. • Assisting in day-to-day tasks related to the project development and funds mobilization. • Support with the field work related tasks. • Taking meeting minutes. • Logistics management during workshops. • Any other tasks relevant to the mandates of UN-Habitat.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Preferred areas of study: Management/ climate/ urban planning/ economy/ political science/ international law. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Proficiency in computer software applications is desirable. Knowledge and experience in reports writing/ policy reports is desirable. Result-oriented research skills are required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship position, fluency in oral and written English and French is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
