UNV Public Information Officer
Contract

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
- Design and coordinate the development of multimedia and digital communications products/campaigns;
- Research and prepare social media content, across multiple platforms in support of Mission priorities and messaging;
- Assist in generating human interest stories for the Mission’s social media platforms and website;
- Develop and implement multimedia and digital communications strategies and campaigns;
- Conduct research in communications and public information activities related to UNITAMS's mandate in Sudan;
- Post material to the website and social media sites;
- When working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, the incumbent is strongly encouraged to set aside dedicated time to capacity building through coaching, mentoring and formal and on the-job training;
- Oversee the Webmaster and social media colleague
- Perform any other related duties as may be required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
University degree or diploma in international relations, journalism, mass communication or in a particular communications medium or product, e.g. computer graphic design, website design or other relevant field;
Required experience:
60 Months
Experience remark:
At least five years of relevant experience, preferably with the United Nations, including several years of specialized experience in a public communications environment (particularly journalism);
Experience in UN field operations would be an asset, including good working knowledge of UN administration and rules and regulations
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
- Arabic(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
- French(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge

Journalism, mass media and broadcasting, Public information and reporting, Arts, music, photography and film
Area of expertise details:
- Demonstrated ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office suites (Word, Powerpoint and Excel); proficiency in desktop publishing and, particularly, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, are desirable;
- Demonstrated ability to maintain websites and social media platforms,
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team of international and national personnel;
- Have affinity with or interest in humanitarian relief, post-conflict situations, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System;
- Sound security awareness.
