TERMS OF REFERENCE

Subject : Application Developer

Duration : 33 Days

BACKGROUND

The UNICEF-Zimbabwe Country programme aims to support the effective delivery of the country programme for 2016 to 2021 working in partnership with other UN Agencies, Government Ministries, donors, the private sector, civil society and other development organizations operating in Zimbabwe, with over 140 staff.

With the onset of the deadly Corona virus (Covid-19) into our daily routines, it has become very difficult for the diverse UNICEF-Zimbabwe Country Office staff to physically interact, communicate and work together as social distancing and remote working methods increasingly become the reality of the day. The staff pictorial aims to lessen the void that has been created by Covid-19 through putting up pictures of all staff and their respective sections and positions. The staff pictorial will also give a representation of the faces behind the success of UNICEF Zimbabwe.

According to WHO, Covid-19 may be with us for a long time. This staff pictorial will therefore bring a fresh approach to put a face to the names of the people they interact and relate with.

UNICEF Zimbabwe Country Office's staff are diverse in terms of gender, age, national and cultural, academic and professional backgrounds and interests. Therefore, it is important to design a product that enables staff to learn about all other staff, visually identify who holds different positions in the organization, gain some information about each staff member from a short bio and how to contact them.

Rather than producing a printed staff book, it is proposed to make a digital web-based version which can be easily updated with new and leaving staff and can be easily accessed through a mobile device or computer.

UNICEF Zimbabwe therefore requires an enthusiastic and committed Application Developer Consultant.

Under the guidance of the Human Resources Manager with technical guidance from the Chief of Communications and ICT Specialist, the overall purpose of the individual consultant is to:

  1. Develop and mock-up designs and layout of the staff pictorial digest App
  2. Manage design and all aspects of the layout of the materials/Digital App
  3. Submit the mockups and receive feedback
  4. Develop the web-based application and functionality of the Digital App – Home screens, menus, tabs, and site map
  5. Ensure secure login accessibility
  6. Upload initial content provided (photos/bios/other information)

All work produced during this assignment will be the sole property of UNICEF.
