Duties and Responsibilities
This on-site internship is located in the Sustainable Energy Division (SED) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva, Switzerland. The minimum duration of the internship is 03 months and the maximum duration is 06 months, during the period from December 2023 to December 2024.
The intern is expected to contribute to the work of the Sustainable Energy Division as follows:
a) To assist in the organisation and servicing of the intergovernmental meetings in the areas covered by the Division, including energy for sustainable development, energy security, energy efficiency, cleaner electricity systems, renewable energy, coal mine methane, methane management, natural gas and resource classification and management.
b) To conduct research, draft studies and short articles and prepare promotional material related to a number of the above listed fields.
c) To assist the secretariat and national experts in data collection, including through web search, and preparation of documentation for the above listed fields.
d) To carry out other tasks as required in the Division, such as meeting support, drafting of reports and updating the UNECE databases.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicant must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat and Russian is a working language of UNECE. For this internship position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
