ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

GLOBAL FLEET

WFP owns, leases and globally operates more than 1,400 trucks, as well as workshop facilities throughout 26 Countries, managed by the Global Fleet unit. The fleet is deployed to fill critical gaps in local transport capacity and stabilize transport rates in the event of increased insecurity and/or sudden growth in demand, as well as pioneer new routes that, due to prevailing insecurity, would remain inaccessible to local transporters.

WFP Global Fleet has launched a capacity strengthening project in West Africa to establish a Transport Training Centre (TTC) in Accra, Ghana, where the fleet regional hub is located. Through this project, WFP will engage, share its know-how, and coordinate with stakeholders from Governments, the private sector, UN agencies, and other humanitarian organizations, to develop and deliver learning initiatives.

JOB PURPOSE

The Project Officer will support the project with private and public partners, with a focus on the Fleet Forum partnership, to support the development and implementation of fleet management related trainings.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the general supervision of the Transport Training Centre Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for carrying out the following tasks:

  • Assist in the stakeholders mapping design and prepare new partnership proposals;
  • Support the preparation of presentations, project proposals and internal onboarding packages for the TTC project;
  • Support the development of a communication strategy for the TTC project, as well as communication outputs and materials for internal and external audience;
  • Contribute to the regular update of the online training portal hosted in WFP corporate learning channel We Learn with training resources;
  • Support in preparing and tracking impact measurement, gaps and needs assessment reports for project donors and partners;
  • Provide administration and logistics support to Global Fleet activities, meetings and events;
  • Support the team with reporting and information management activities;
  • Perform any other duty when requested.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Advanced University Degree (master or equivalent) in Social Science, Development Studies or another related field

Experience
