You have:
- Bachelor's degree in translation, linguistics, languages, or any other related field
- At least 3 years of experience in translation, particularly in translating documents related to development, public policy, or international organizations.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines amending the drafts based on the team’s feedback.
- Having a flexible schedule.
- Good communication skills included proficiency in English & Arabic Languages.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational, coordination and creativity skills.
- Meticulous in ensuring accuracy and consistency in all translations.
- Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills in both Arabic & English are required.
Contract
This is a NPSA-6 contract. This kind of contract is known as National Personnel Services Agreement. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 6 years of experience, depending on education. More about NPSA-6 contracts.

UNDP partners with all Kuwaiti stakeholders to build national capacity to develop a more efficient public sector, support women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability and private sector development. Our national implementing partner is the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD).
Duties and Responsibilities
UNDP Kuwait requires the services of a professional translator to provide high-quality translation services for various documents, reports, communications, and other materials from Arabic to English and from English to Arabic. The consultant will work closely with the UNDP team to translate material covering various thematic areas, including governance, climate action, social inclusion, and youth empowerment.
As such, the selected individual consultant will be responsible for providing the services outlined below:
- Translate UNDP documents, including but not limited to reports, policy papers, press releases, speeches, and other communication materials;
- Translation of documents must include editing and proof reading;
- Review and edit translated documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency;
- Ensure that translations are culturally appropriate and sensitive to the target audience.

After submission of the translated documents, the consultant will receive comments from the team within 2 working days. It is expected from the consultant to submit edited versions within 2 working days after receiving comments.
The Translator has to maintain the confidentiality of all documents and information provided by UNDP during the course of the contract.
The Translator will report to the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Kuwait.
