International Volunteers Day (IVD), is an international observance that was mandated by the UN General Assembly in 1985. The Day is an opportunity for us all to promote volunteerism, encourage governments to support volunteer efforts and recognize volunteer contributions to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at local, national and international levels. This year, IVD2020 campaign will thank volunteers and highlight their actions for the global COVID-19 pandemic response. At the same time (not as a main theme but as one of the topics), we will advocate for the mental and physical health, along with access to health insurance and health care, of volunteers. IVD2020 Objectives: Showcase volunteers’ contributions and impact by highlighting local actions during COVID-19, and thank volunteers for their actions and commitment.
