The Climate Change Unit of UNEP's Office for LAC is looking for 2 online volunteers to assist in the translation and proofreading of an economic analysis on Energy Transition as a driver of Panama’s post-COVID-19 economic reactivation. The analysis includes metrics, economic models, decarbonisation scenarios, indicators, and other economic measures. It also identifies public policy measures for the development of low-emission and climate-resilient strategies to stimulate stronger, more suitable economic growth, employment and social impact minimizing emissions. The report should be: • Proofread and edited in English • Translated from English into Spanish • Proofread and edited in Spanish (corrección de estilo). The document will be used by UNEP to deliver the results to the Panama authorities and for the dissemination and awareness-raising on the benefits of implementing a low carbon post-COVID recovery. The text to be translated is approximately 100 pages.

To address the post-pandemic economic recovery, the governments of LAC countries are currently designing a set of public policy measures aimed at boosting public and private investment, with the goal of stimulating the economy and generating employment. These decisions will chart the course of economic development for the next decade, accelerating or delaying progress on climate change. To this end, the Climate Change Unit of UNEP's Office for LAC has developed an evidence-based analysis customized to each country with a sectoral approach, using the Green Economy Model (GEM), to assess the cost of proposed public policy interventions and investments in the light of the COVID-19 recovery plans, and the resulting economic, social and climate impacts. The analysis provides evidence that low-emission, climate-resilient strategies are viable interventions to stimulate stronger and more suitable economic growth and social empowerment compared to the business as usual. The report for Panamá is the first one of the Caribbean countries to be completed. The report is needed in EN and ES so that international and local communities can read and have access to its results.
