Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Special Political missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide. This position is located in the Solutions & Support Unit, Client Solutions Delivery Section, within the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies at the UNGSC in Valencia, Spain. The Incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief, Solutions & Support Unit.

Within limits of delegated authority, Technical Writer will be responsible for the following duties:

· Support the production and update of SOPs and manuals for solutions and applications. · Create a documentation pipeline and integrate it into the development cycle. · Create detailed user content, including technical manuals, training guides, journal articles, tutorials, and software documentation. · Plan, create, and update technical documents, including user specifications, manuals, and test plans to facilitate the software and product development and to ensure its operation. · Consult software and technology subject matter experts to review, modify, and revise complex documentation for all applications, solutions, and audiences. · Assess and evaluate the end user needs and level of knowledge relevant to technical documentation. · Interpret complex software/product features and functions and translate them into a concise, relevant, and readable format. · Collaborate with product designers and developers to study product samples and make instructions easier to comprehend. · Proofread and edit content created by other team members. · Integrate user-friendly content in illustrations, graphs, and infographics for enhanced user experience. · Write, review, and organize online help content to facilitate end-users. · Follow the United Nations Editorial Manual writing style across all media and other platforms for consistency.

Qualifications/special skills Licenses & Certificates: Technical Writer, PRINCE2 and ITIL certifications are desirable. Academic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in technical writing is required.

Experience in Office 365 suite is required.

Experience in content management systems and geospatial technology is desirable. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable
