You have:
- Knowledge and direct experience with climate change mitigation and adaptation interventions, gained through at least 5 years of experience working in development contexts.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Forest, Environmental Planning or a related field.
- Fluent in both Swahili and English Languages.
- Master degree in Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Forest, Environmental Planning or a related field will be added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
The Technical Specialist – Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) will lead efforts to adapt WVT programs to be more resilient and responsive to the impacts of climate change. The postholder will provide advice and support in three principal ways:
- Demand driven support to Area Program and Projects to design services that are climate resilient and/or build community resilience
- Support learning and innovation across humanitarian and Development interventions to promote climate resilient / responsive programs;
- Mobilize resources to help the organization adopt and scale climate resilient/responsive interventions.
The Technical Specialist – Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) will be part of the Program Quality and Strategy Division. The postholder will report to Resilience and Livelihood Team Leader and will work closely with field teams

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Activity
Support National office on designing and implementation of Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) interventions (30%)
- Targeted support to Area Program and Projects to implement Core Project model and approaches related to ESCA including FMNR, Regreening Communities and Eco-school
- Work with government and HEA Manager to better understand and adapt to the projected impacts of climate induced disasters-DRR
- Promote, coordinate and support ESCA mainstreaming across the organization
- Strengthening integration, collaboration and complementarity include health and nutrition, Education, gender, F&D, WASH peace building and sponsorship.
- Support implementation of WVT new strategy

- Climate Resilience projects are implemented with fidelity
- Burn rate for Climate resilience is according to the plan
- ESCA is mainstreamed across WVT
Activity
Monitoring and Evaluation of Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) Interventions (30%)
- Visit target communities on a regular basis to learn and document on climate resilience practices and experiences and continuously support to incorporate into the project planning such lessons.
- Support production of regular and timely progress reports regarding relevant project activities.
- Review and support quality data collection for ESCA for decision making
- Take lead on ESCA DIQA exercises
- Promote learning including developing success stories and share in different platforms

- Quality R and L reports submission which include how RC families are benefiting from Climate resilience projects
- Updated quality data in the Kobo etc. including data for both APs and grants
- Number of success stories developed and shared in different platform

Training and capacity strengthening to staffs and partners on ESCA (10%)
- Design capacity strengthening to partners and staffs
- Lead training and capacity strengthening on ESCA for staffs and partners

Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) intervention visibility internally and externally (15%)
- Work with NO to broker external partnerships that can forward ESCA work at field level
- Advise FO on ESCA related policy statements as requested
- Active participation in World Vision Tanzania Green Team
- In delegation of R and L Team Leader Represent WVT in various meetings, workshops and conferences related to climate ESCA
- Support APs/Cluster participation in key national and international commemorations related to climate resilience such as World Environmental week
- Prepare papers related to ESCA for presentation in different forums

Activity
Resource mobilization for Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action (ESCA) (15%)
- Work with Field Office Resource Development team to identify, map and communicate ESCA funding opportunities
- Build organizational resources to help to develop WVT’s portfolio on climate resilient / responsive programs.
- Support initial assessment to inform PNS and grant development around climate resilience

- Quality and timely report submission to inform resource development
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
- Knowledge and direct experience with climate change mitigation and adaptation interventions, gained through at least 5 years of experience working in development contexts
- Proven experience in strengthening community capacity for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
- Demonstrated awareness and use of key global climate change technological interventions such as drones and Satellite for environmental monitoring
- Proven experience of leading/ providing technical support on climate change adaptation and mitigation planning for both rural and urban projects
- Demonstrated Experience on environmental impact assessment
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Forest, Environmental Planning or a related field.
- Master degree in Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Forest, Environmental Planning or a related field will be added advantage
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Knowledge of climate change trends, impacts and solutions, including strategies for climate change mitigation, adaptation, and preparedness.
- Knowledge on integrated approach to development
- Resource mobilization (Understanding of the sector, donor and UN landscape for ESCA.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially the ability to write succinctly and clearly for professional and public audiences. Ability to create and deliver effective and polished public presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle challenging situations with tact and sensitivity.
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information and prepare and present results orally and in writing.
- Ability to independently prioritize assignments, manage multiple simultaneous projects, ask for assistance when needed, and provide regular progress updates to collaborators, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Strong experience in conducting and developing workshops and/or trainings will be an asset.
- Excellent reporting and analytical skills.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
- Work environment: Office-based with frequent travel to the field
- Travel: 30% Domestic/international travel is required.
- On call: 5%

- Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
