Org. Setting and Reporting

This position will be temporarily vacant for a period of 3 months, with possibility of extension. This position is in the Directors office of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) Subregional Headquarters in Mexico. The Team Assistant reports to the Programme Officer. The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer, the Team Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: •Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables, and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. •Sorts and distributes or processes mail and other documents. •Uses basic keyboard and word processing skills to prepare forms and short documents (e.g. memos, letters, faxes, electronic mail, etc.). •Receives phone calls and visitors and refers them to the appropriate source or reply personally to querieswhen possible. •Photocopies a variety of documents and other materials. •Delivers urgent mail/messages. •Maintains unit files (paper and electronic). •Operates a variety of office equipment in the performance of basic office functions, e.g. photocopier, facsimile, printer, scanner, etc. •Assists in events organization. •Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. •Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent is required. NOTE: For positions in the General Service category, candidates are required to clearly indicate in their Applicant Profile (AP) relevant information confirming completion of High School.

Job - Specific Qualification

Relevant training in data analytics is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in clerical and general office support is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to zero (0) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat and Spanish is a working language of ECLAC. For the position advertised, fluency in Spanish is required and intermediate knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable. Knowledge of the second language (English/Spanish) will be tested, unless it can be supported by a certificate from a recognized institution.
