Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading INGOs, is recruiting a Retention & Mobility Specialist to identify obstacles and determine effective strategies to drive employee retention and mobility within DRC to better attract, retain and develop talent through internal mobility mechanisms. As a central position in our 2-year Retention Project, you will have a direct impact on the organisation's ability to achieve our mission of assisting refugees and displaced people around the world.

You will be working alongside 9 other colleagues in the People Development & Engagement Team, which is part of the larger HR Department in HQ. We develop mechanisms and tools that support staff motivation, inclusion and the necessary professional growth for our employees to do their jobs. We are a highly dedicated international team focused on strengthening leadership, learning & development, staff engagement, and diversity & inclusion. We collaborate closely with colleagues from around the world to deliver innovative and efficient solutions of high quality that cater to the needs of the organisation.

About the job

You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that support the retention and mobility of employees, with special attention to fostering a more diverse and inclusive workforce. You will join the People Development & Engagement Team, working closely with HR Partners, Senior Managers and Global Technical Leads. You will be responsible for implementing mechanisms that promote career development and mobility opportunities for employees, as well as identifying and building talent pools for key positions.

More concretely, you will:

  • In dialogue with relevant stakeholders and with the help of workforce data, conduct comprehensive analyses of the organisation’s underlying challenges with retention and mobility.
  • Develop and implement inclusive strategies and mechanisms to improve retention rates and increase employee mobility within DRC.
  • Collaborate with HR Partners and Senior Managers across the organisation to understand the needs of employees and identify opportunities for career development and advancement.
  • Create and maintain talent pools for key positions, ensuring that the organisation has a diverse pipeline of candidates ready to fill critical roles.
  • Develop and deliver equitable training programs that support employee development and mobility.
  • Build relationships with employees, managers and Global Technical Leads to understand their needs and concerns and provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness while analyzing data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in retention and mobility.
  • Work with the People Development & Engagement Team to support initiatives related to learning & development, leadership development, staff engagement, and diversity & inclusion.

The work of the Retention & Mobility Specialist is closely linked to other parallel projects in HR HQ, such as the Leadership Academy, People Management Training, Country Director Onboarding, Career Pathways, global review of Compensation & Rewards, etc.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have experience in leading talent-related projects in a global organisation. This includes conducting comprehensive analyses to inform the development, implementation and launch of comprehensive strategies and mechanisms that promote career development and advancement opportunities for employees.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing global retention and mobility strategies.
  • Experience in a multinational organisation with an international focus.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of learning & development, leadership development, staff engagement, and diversity & inclusion.
  • Relevant university degree in HR, organisational strategy, or similar.
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of DRC’s other working languages (Spanish, French, Arabic & Danish) is considered a strong asset.

Contract length: Permanent contract Workplace: Central Copenhagen, Denmark Start date: August 2023

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC (agreement for academics). The position is at “fuldmægtig” level.
