The organisation’s business area - GIZ International Services - is the vehicle for offering GIZ’s services to international clients.

GIZ International Services is currently preparing to bid on the EU funded project tender: EU-ASEAN Green Initiative.

The project’s objective is to enhance the EU-ASEAN partnership and reduce negative environmental impacts and climate-related and disaster risks covering critical areas of the European Green Deal. The envisaged components for this action are as follows:

The Sustainable Food Systems Expert will be responsible for managing the Sustainable Food Systems: Farm to Fork Component of the EU-ASEAN Green Initiative, contributing to monitoring, evaluation and learning and reporting frameworks and the supervision of short-term expertise.

Ihr Profil

Qualifications and skills:

  • A Master’s Degree or equivalent in food production systems, food security, public policy, international relations, social sciences, or a discipline related to the issues covered in the programme or equivalent professional experience in any discipline relevant to the project of a minimum of 15 years.
  • Thorough knowledge of regional integration, particularly ASEAN and EU integration policies, including Team Europe Initiative.
  • Proven organisational, communication, mobilisation and change management skills.
  • An excellent verbal and written command of English is required. Knowledge of an ASEAN language would be an added advantage.

General professional experience:

  • Minimum ten years of professional experience related to a programme of this nature in an intergovernmental institution, international organisation, or international consulting firm.
  • Extensive professional experience in Asia (preferably South East Asia) would be vital.

Specific professional experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience working in cooperation programmes in developing countries, preferably in sustainable food systems and policy development and implementation.
  • Experience developing, supporting and implementing regulatory regimes for food systems in line with EU standards including, but not limited to, the areas of food and feed safety, traceability and sustainability.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting development and/or certification of sustainable agricultural practices such as climate-smart agriculture, organic farming, agroecology and other innovates approaches.
  • Experience in addressing gaps in public awareness about sustainable and food production and food waste through approaches such as nutrition labelling, responsible business and marketing standards and broad awareness raising.
  • Proven ability to develop solid partnerships with high-level officials to achieve project results.
