Overview

Provide technical support for the development of survey modules on child protection.

You have:

• Master's Degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Demography, Statistics, Epidemiology, or other related technical field with significant measurement or analysis components are required
• At least 10 years’ working experience of which 8 years should be related to the design and coordination of quantitative household surveys. Prior experience with the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey or Demographic and Health Survey programmes is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in validation of measurement instruments; Prior experience with validation of measurement instruments related to child protection and development indicators is highly desirable.
• Fluency in English. Intermediate skills in a second UN Language would be an advantage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective relationships with national partners.

Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

The consultant will provide technical support for the upcoming stages of methodological work in the development of

survey modules on child protection and development topics. This will involve preparing materials, tools and protocols for

the next stages of testing, providing on-site training for the implementation team, and participating in fieldwork as a

technical advisor. The modules under development include inclusive education, violence, parenting and adolescent

participation and empowerment.

Scope of Work:

The current scope of work includes supporting the preparation of data collection materials, tools and protocols that will undergo validation through a dedicated field test in 2026, and then supporting the implementation of this field test by providing on-site training for the implementation team and participating in fieldwork as a technical advisor. In particular, this will include:

1. Preparing data collection protocols for the field test, drawing from existing drafts and in collaboration with the implementing agency. The protocol will cover the purpose and scope of the exercise, the basic requirements for sampling, the composition of the fieldwork team and the plan for their training, data collection logistics and quality assurance plan, data analysis plan, timeline, ethical protocols, and specification of roles and responsibilities of all parties participating in the exercise.

2. Preparing final questionnaires for the field test, including the modules to be tested as well as additional standard modules on background characteristics and relevant topics to support analysis

3. Providing technical guidance on survey design and implementation requirements

4. Training enumerators on the survey protocol for the field test

5. Participating in fieldwork as a technical advisor

6. Preparing a report on the training, pilot and fieldwork
