You have:

  • Independent person with no past or present work experience with any UN organization and not an immediate relative of a UN staff member
  • International shopping experience with knowledge of the local market in Kuwait
  • Preferably an expatriate who has lived in Kuwait for at least one year
  • Ability to get around Kuwait to visit outlets by either public transportation or own means of transport if necessary
  • Conversant with English and Arabic for proper interpretation of item specifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively (preferably in English and Arabic) with outlet owners and workers
  • Possesses a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in statistics, economics, project management, auditing, accounting, or finance is an additional asset

Background

On behalf and retained by the UN International Civil Service Commission (ICSC), UNDP is looking for a pricing agent who will be hired for one month on lumpsum basis to be responsible for the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • to write down/record prices of a variety of goods and services sold in specified retail outlets, strictly adhering to the guidelines and specifications provided by the ICSC,
  • to compile and submit the pricing form within the specified time frame, and
  • to complete a questionnaire describing local market conditions.
  • Other tasks to be requested by ICSC/UNDP

Required Skills and Experience

  • Is an independent person with no past or present work experience with any of the organizations of the United Nations Common System and is not an immediate relative of a UN staff member (child, parent, spouse, etc.).
  • Has international shopping experience with knowledge of the local market in Kuwait.
  • Is preferably an expatriate who has lived in Kuwait for at least one year.
  • Has the ability to get around Kuwait to visit the outlets by either public transportation or his/her own means of transport if necessary.
  • Is conversant with English and Arabic to ensure proper interpretation of item specifications as provided on the pricing forms.
  • Is able to communicate effectively (preferably in English and Arabic) because the job requires interaction with outlet owners and workers.
  • Possesses a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Having experience in the field of statistics, economics, project management, auditing, accounting and/or finance is an additional asset
