Support translation and report finalization for the Mapping Nature workshop reports.

You have:

• Fluency in Spanish, ideally as a mother tongue.
• Fluency in English.
• Strong knowledge of Canva and other online editing tools.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with the team coordinator.
• Knowledge of spatial data and biodiversity conservation is an asset.

In January and February 2020, two workshops on Mapping Nature for People and Planet were hosted respectively in Peru and Colombia. The workshops aimed to gather relevant national stakeholders to discuss the use of spatial data in mapping 'Essential Life Support Areas' (ELSAs) where countries can take action to protect, manage and restore nature, and achieve their commitments in terms of biodiversity conservation, climate change, and sustainable development. Each workshop lasted over a month and covered different working sessions. Detailed notes were taken by the rapporteurs. We are now looking for an online Volunteer to support the finalization of the report, including proofreading the report, formatting it, and finalizing it in Canva. Both reports will be done in Spanish. The final report will be 25-30 pages and about 10K words.

  In October 2019, the first Mapping Nature for People and Planet workshop was hosted in Costa Rica, and co-hosted by UNDP Nature for Development, UNDP CO Costa Rica, and the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica. The purpose of this workshop was to determine what ecosystems are essential for biodiversity conservation, climate, and sustainable development, and how those ecosystems should be protected, managed, and restored, to safeguard essential ecosystem services. It was also an occasion to create a bridge between decision-makers and the science team to launch the project. A similar workshop was replicated in Colombia and Peru in January-February 2020. Peru's workshop was attended by over 100 persons and covered both the region of Ucayali and the national level. The workshop in Colombia was attended by 50+ people, focusing on supporting the Colombian vision through 2050. The UNV will support the post-workshop task of finalizing the report. This report will be widely shared with national stakeholders and is a crucial element to continue the work on spatial data in the country.

  Candidates must be fluent in Spanish (ideally, Spanish is your mother tongue) and fluent in English. Candidates should have strong knowledge of Canva and other online editing tools. Candidates must be able to work in a team and be communicative with the team coordinator. Knowledge on spatial data and biodiversity conservation is an asset, but not required.
