Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Support Services Officer to be based in Gdynia, Poland.

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to promote and protect durable solutions to conflict and displacement-affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC is implementing a multi-sector response to support Ukraine refugees, IDPs, and host populations both within Ukraine and in the neighboring countries of Poland, Romania and Moldova, and wider Europe. Since late February 2022, nearly 4 million Ukrainians and third-country nationals have crossed the border to Poland. As part of its neighboring country response, DRC is establishing an operational presence in Poland to support displaced populations through partnership with civil society organizations and national NGOs, duty bearers, and other actors.

About the job

Provides coordinated and strategic support for key support functions (procurement, logistics, administration) and ensures the smooth running of support functions to meet the field base needs in line with the DRC Operations Handbook.

  • Support administrative and procurement in Gdynia community center which include:
  • Logistics and procurement support.
  • Procurement of anything needed for running the project, including for partners.
  • Procurement of premises, upgrade/alteration if required.
  • Furnishing and connection of utilities, internet, cleaning services.
  • Procurement of assets, GPE, stationery
  • Potential requirement for staff movement, site visits etc to be facilitated through local vehicle rental suppliers (3 or 4 companies operating in Gdynia).
  • Assess the need for warehouse and a limited contingency stock (or potential alternatives)
  • Identification of suitable available office premises in accordance with MOSS check from Safety (taking into account location/access/security/capacity etc.).
  • Registration of new premises with local/national authorities.
  • Rehabilitation works for GCC.
  • Liaise with property agents/local authorities with regards to payment of administrative fees and procurement of required legal documentation.
  • Point of contact with regards to all support functionality/logistical issues.

  • Any other tasks as requested by the Base Manager.

About you

  • Advanced level of English and Polish languages.
