Launched on 17 October 2022, the goal of the SPI UNV-UNICEF Young Arab Women Talents initiative is to strategically tackle gender imbalance in the region’s workforce for UNICEF. As a matter of fact, the UNICEF MENA Regional Office was actively looking for innovative ways to engage talents from underrepresented groups. In line with UNICEF’s Strategic Plan 2022-2025, this initiative aims to empower young women from countries in the region through 12-month youth UNV assignments. The participants will also receive tailor-made training to support them during their assignment and beyond. In addition, the initiative also seeks to strengthen UNICEF’s talent pipeline and serve as an avenue for career growth and development for young talent who are passionate about UNICEF’s work and appreciate the value of volunteerism. This initiative targets young female talent aged 24 to 32 who are nationals of countries in the MENA Region. Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience and be available for an initial 12-month assignment for both national and international volunteer modalities. The program also seeks to provide opportunities for people with disabilities. 7 women were selected in different positions from this initiative which will be participating in this initiative to invest in them as this will be beneficial to UNNICEF as this will develop existing skills as well as add new skills. In addition to these 7 women, UNV ROAS wishes to extend this training opportunity to 7 youth female UN volunteers currently serving with UNICEF in MENA, as an incentive for these country operations to also embark in this SPI and to enhance visibility and recognition for UNV value add for UNICEF. The learning event is directly connected with UNV Outcome 1: “By integrating high quality and well-supported UN Volunteers and volunteerism in their programm, UN entities are more effective in delivering their results” and Output 1.3 of the new Strategic Framework (SF) “The UN Volunteer assignment/experience is improved through effective support, including training and learning.” It is also part of the action plan of the UNV Field Unit for 2014 and would be the first learning event tailored for the young women talents in Jordan
