Org. Setting and Reporting

The position is within the Liquidation Entity of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), at Bamako. The incumbent will report to the Chief Centralized Warehousing Unit.

Responsibilities

Within the limits of delegated authority, the Supply Officer (Warehouse), FS6 will be responsible for performing the following duties: • Develops, reviews, monitors, assesses and manages technical contracts for the provision of support services. • Plans and prepares current cost estimates/budget implications and long-term forecasts of Organization’s requirements for machinery, equipment, tools, materials, services, supplies, food aid and utilities. • Plans, organizes, and supervises the warehouse operations, ensuring proper storage, safeguarding and avoidance of loss. • Designs, develops and updates relevant software for tracking, reconciliation, and costing purposes. • Initiates actions leading to procurement, maintenance and disposal of items. • Undertakes market research and reviews best practices in warehouse/inventory management and adapts such practices to United Nation’s (UN) requirements. • Establishes and/or reviews mission requirements. Initiates actions to fulfil and control these requirements. Prepares sales lots for disposal of property by commercial sales. • Conducts technical survey visits both in start-up phase and during implementation to plan and ensure most efficient use of resources. • Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained. • Analyzes problems, audit and performance reports on mission activities and provides remedial action programmes where required. • Maintains accurate allocation and control of all equipment and stores received, stored and distributed by the mission. • Oversee the inbound and outbound operations, ensuring prompt recording of all inventory transactions into Umoja. • Provides guidance to, or supervises new/junior staff. • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Education

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Job - Specific Qualification

Supply Chain Certification (SCOR-P or equivalent) is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in supply services, administration, logistics, engineering, project management or related area, is required. The minimum year of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree. Experience providing services to or in a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable. Experience in supply chain management or logistics operations during liquidation of a large field operation is desirable. Experience in Business Intelligence and data analytics/visualization is desirable.

Languages

French and English are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. A working knowledge of French is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

• This position is temporarily available within the MINUSMA Liquidation Team until 31 March 2025 pending budget approval. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment. • While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post. • Subject to the funding source of the position, the eligibility for this temporary job opening may be limited to candidates based at the duty station. • Staff members of the United Nations common system organizations who will reach the mandatory age of separation or retirement within the duration of the current temporary need period are not eligible to apply.
