JOB PURPOSE

WFPs supply chain expertise in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is grounded on proven execution in countries where it operates, and yet, the considerable impact to brought about by such expertise lies outside the Organization and in Government run safety nets.Social protection delivery in LAC is fragmented and supply chains are the unifier with the potential to yield the efficiency required to either reach more people or invest less in reaching them. Diagnosing supply chains is at the core of WFPs supply chain expertise. WFPs regional supply chain strategy in LAC aims at diagnosing safety net delivery – irrespective of the transfer modality used (i.e., in-kind, or cash-based) – and when done in tandem with the various entities in charge of delivering the social protection, capacity is transferred, and the exercise can be replicated. The supply chain gap assessment will identify areas where capacity must be strengthened (by private, academia and/or humanitarian actors) and/or temporary stop gapping service provision activities are required, couple with a prioritization exercise, a business case, and a clearly defined exit strategy.
