You have:
- Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, social science, environmental law, or related field.
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
- Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. This internship is located within the Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) Secretariat in Washington D.C. STAP provides independent scientific and technical advice to the GEF on its policies, strategies, programs, and projects. Under the supervision of a Programme Officer, Intern will: - Assist with research on issues related to the main focal areas of the GEF: biodiversity, climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, chemicals and waste, land degradation, and international waters, for example to help with STAP Papers. - Assist in preparing speaking notes and presentations, and in organizing STAP meetings and workshops; - Assist with STAP communications, including updating the STAP website; - Perform other duries as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, social science, environmental law, or related field. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
