Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and/or assisting in the development and implementation of programs and projects related to the Association’s Scholars Program. This role will be responsible for collaborating across the Association as a portfolio subject matter authority to create and develop strategies to further engage the Association Scholars as Ambassadors, Advocates and Fundraisers. This Sr. Program Lead will cultivate new alliances and audience-specific engagement channels, identify/grow revenue generating opportunities to support the overall Scholars Program nationally and locally.

Here are some of the essential job duties:

  • Assist in the development of strategic plans and implementation and serve as a senior subject matter authority to facilitate the establishment of the Association Scholars Alumni, Junior College and Tribal programs. The Senior Lead will collaborate with a variety of the American Heart Association departments such as Science, Advocacy, MarComm and Mission Advancement to drive a Scholars ecosystem which enables end-to-end Scholar’s solutions. Will create a program to establish and grow Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for communications and marketing with a focus on growing awareness and brand recognition of the Association Scholars. In collaboration with the Scholars Leads be responsible for developing tactical plans for program sustainability and field engagement.
  • Identify key national strategic alliance partners to achieve new business and volunteer relationships to advance opportunities for revenue generation, volunteer leadership and multi-layered collaborations. In addition, nurture, improve or maintain relationships to achieve scale/sustainability of Association Scholars through the continued engagement of the students. Provide ongoing relationship management, tracking and evaluation.
  • Lead aspects of, analyzes and evaluates effectiveness and engagement for the Alumni Engagement strategy, as well as for Junior and Tribal Colleges. Provides recommendations for programmatic development, evaluation and improvement.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with the Association staff, volunteers, sponsors and partners throughout the entire program planning process. In collaboration with Association Scholars Executive Lead, identifies and establishes success measures and analysis of market response and reach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent work experience in Health Promotion, Public Health, Human Resources, Marketing, Business, Communications.
  • Seven (7) years validated experience in business development or account management.
  • Experience in alumni program development, planning and management.
  • Experience in the Junior College, Tribal and/or University settings.
  • Experience in public health or non-profit services.
  • Comprehensive experience building business cases, analyzing market trends and identifying creative business opportunities.
  • Ability to influence leadership without direct authority.
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas across diverse audiences.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of health organizations and community-based standard processes for engaging community-based organizations.

  • Experience with market/consumer research, analytics and reporting.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously lead multiple, complex projects and events in varying stages of development under time constraints to ensure deadline compliance.
  • Proven understanding and appreciation for the use of technology and information systems.
  • Proven critical thinking skills in assessing needs and available resources to efficiently implement new and existing programs.
  • Self-motivated, highly effective organizational and analytical skills, communication, negotiation, and social skills.
  • Validated ability to efficiently participate in or facilitate meetings with internal and external clients including interacting with external partners/sponsors representing the Association to the public as vital.

Compensation & Benefits

Expected pay range will be $100,000 to $110,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. This position is incentive eligible based on achieving certain targets.
