This position will sit within the Marketing Technology department, working closely with the IRC’s External Relations team. Marketing Technology is responsible for the supporter management platforms (CRM, website, email marketing, donation platforms…) that power the External Relations department. Comprised of Private fundraising, Communications and Advocacy, the External Relations department is at the beginning stages of creating a new radical and ambitious strategy that will enhance IRC’s ability to ‘punch above its weight’ in private income, advocacy and brand awareness, enabling the organization to have the resources needed to continue serving over 20 million people worldwide, shape the humanitarian sector by influencing key policies and reforms and build and grow IRC’s reputation.

Job Overview/Summary:

As a SQL Developer, this role performs hands-on technical implementation, with a focus on delivering functional solutions on the Mulesoft platform for Salesforce.com and relational databases. This Developer will take a lead role in the design, implementation, deployment, and documentation of projects that leverage the Salesforce.com, ETL, and SQL toolsets.

Drawing on technical skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity, this Developer will implement new solutions and/or troubleshoot issues. We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and technical savvy individual to inspire and motivate the team and provide a technical edge to business users in order to meet the IRC’s ambitious fundraising goals.

Major Responsibilities:

• Integrate and maintain database code using PostgreSQL as primary database technology.

• Develop and maintain database code in the form of Stored Procedures, SQL Queries. Functions and Views as required by business processes.

• Involved with all levels of database management.

• Ensure system optimization, by improving and restructuring databases.

• Perform database updates and migrations.

• Ensure efficiency of database code, integrity of data structures, quality of data content and database code is accurately documented.

• Work closely with other team members to make sure database code meets the requirements.

• Experience building data-warehouses (relational and non-relational databases) and solutions for CRM (Salesforce)

• Manage Heroku connect for Salesforce to Heroku integration.

• Write database queries and code while maintaining data quality, privacy, and security.

• Responsible for requirement gathering, bug fixing, testing, documenting, and implementation.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent;

• At least 3 years of PostgreSQL experience with creating complex stored procedures, SQL scripts functions, triggers, and views.

• Experience with Heroku Connect.

• A minimum 3+ years of professional work experience CRM (Salesforce) and Relations databases (non-profit experience a plus) and IT delivery, IT services, and professional services environments.

• Experience in ETL Design sessions with the team.

• Proficient with SQL, SOQL, JSON for data manipulation and complex custom reports.

• Familiarity with data structure algorithms, message queuing, indexing, and high-performance data concepts.

• Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• 6+ years of excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with team members, internal customer, high-level staff and external vendors, strong customer service orientation, good writing skills, ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical audience.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

• Experience with MuleSoft, DBAmp

• Experience with MongoDB, MSSQL, Snowflake

• Experience with web services or application programming interfaces is a great plus.

• Experience in implementing fundraising applications for non-profit organizations.

• Experience in working effectively with an agile delivery model.

• Experience in implementing business intelligence and data warehouse solutions.

This position is fully remote. The post holder will be required to travel to 3-5 times per year for in-person time with team and learning development opportunities.

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
